I finished without a crash!
Sunday, I raced Tumacacori RR 6 mile loop, 460ft climbing, 10 laps. I climbed, kind of; went off the front, got dropped and worked myself back numerous times finally I almost bonked then got slammed in reverse, but I finished. The race was a good way to start the season off as a working family guy and sometimes racing 40+, Cat3. Racing with the 35+ crowd can be difficult but I was able to get my head back on the road.
August 5, 2006 I was racing a Criterium only to find myself on the wrong side of the handlebars gasping for O2. 10 weeks after cracking 3 ribs, chipping 2 vertebra, my collarbone and puncturing my lung I soloed up Madera Canyon. What a great ride! I have soloed numerous days on the Shootout after popping, but it was good to race with my head in the game.
Now it is time to train seriously during my daily commute in the desert.
